Contours of water
24 February 2012
Aqualogy and Canaragua
The fourth edition of the Aquaforum seminar took place on February 24, 2012 in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana in the Canary Islands with a debate focusing on the importance of innovation and the answers that, from a context such as the Canary Islands, could be used to face global water challenges. Both the president of the Canary Islands Government Paulino Rivero and Aqualogy’s executive president Ángel Simón as well as the rest of the speakers centered their speech on the importance of knowledge and the pioneering role taken on by the Canary Islands in the field of desalination. Discussions also centered around the importance of regenerated water and the interrelationship between water and energy in the future.
Writer and journalist Fernando G. Delgado centered his discourse Water in our lives on his childhood memories about water and the presence of this element in the works of Herman Hesse, Pablo Neruda and Juan Ramón Jiménez. The sounds of the Canary Islands timple, played by Domingo Rodríguez Oramas ‘el Colorao’, marked the end of the act. The seminar took place at Finca Condal de San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria island).
